CAIRO – 4 April 2022: Chairman of the Food Export Council Hany Barzy said that exports of the Egyptian food industry increased by 3 percent in the first two months of 2022, recording $625 million against $609 million in the corresponding period in 2021.

In a statement on Monday, Barzy pointed out that Arab countries topped the list of international groups importing food industry products from Egypt.
 
Exports to the Arab markets amounted to $379 million in the first two month of 2022, representing 61 percent of the total food exports, Barzy explained.
 
The European Union came second in the list with a value of $88 million, representing 14 percent of Egypt’s total food exports, Barzy said.
 
It was followed by non-Arab African countries with the value of food imported from Egypt amounting to $51 million, representing 8 percent of the total.
 
The value of food exports to the US upped by 9 percent to $34 million, representing 5 percent of Egypt’s total food exports.
 
The rest of the international groups recorded $73 million worth of food imports from Egypt during the same period, representing 12 percent of the total Egyptian food exports.
